Why do you need this Web Site

What Is AustraliaForAll.com ?

It is a new national web site devoted entirely to accommodation and tourist venues which are accessible to people with disabilities.

What is its aim?

The aim is to be able to spread the message to the community of people with physical, hearing and/or vision impairments that they can access the australiaforall.com.au web site in the knowledge that every accommodation or venue listed has accessible facilities covering their specific impairment, details of which will be on the web site for them to access.

Why do we need AustraliaForAll.com

There is, of course, a proliferation of  web sites which offer accessible tourist venues.   The difficulty  for tourists with disabilities is  knowing which of these web sites and/or tourism venues are truly accessible.    Even where venues are accessible, pictures and details of accessibility and/or toilet/shower facilities are rarely to be found on them.   But these are the areas people with disabilities look for when deciding what accommodation to stay in, and what tourism venues to visit.

What does the tourism operator gain from being part of this project?

Free advertising of your facility on the australiaforall.com e-service and exposure to the millions of people with disabilities who have a disability, in addition to the elderly members of the community who like to take advantage of accessible facilities.

What does the tourism operator have to do to be part of this project?

You should look at the criteria levels that your facility can cater for. Download the self-assessment form for that criteria and complete as much as possible.

What do you do next?

You should e-mail the completed self-assessment form back to australiaforall@bigpond.com together with digital photographs of the toilet/shower facilities in your disabled unit/room/s, a view of the bedroom from the entrance door looking inwards and an overall photograph of your facility. If you have photographs on your web site you would like to use in your advertisement we ask that you give us written permission to use them.

How will this project help people with disabilities?

This national e-service will bring together on one web site all accommodation and tourism venues which are accessible to people with disabilities. This will enable tourists with disabilities, to  browse the one  web site  without the need to go from one web site to another  for both the area they want to visit, and the facilities that are accessible to them.
