The Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre commenced operations in the late 1970’s.  The wide appeal of the RFDS Visitor Centre at Alice Springs was recently recognised when it won the 2005 Brolga Award for Tourism Excellence in the Significant Tourist Attractions category. Winning this award is a reflection of the commitment of the entire team that operates this engaging and educational facility which incorporates a museum, souvenir shop, one of the oldest functioning RFDS communication bases to be found and our cafe which serves up some delicious treats in very relaxed, informal surroundings.    On average 80,000 people visit the centre each year.
