Touching Thailand Tours - National Museum Bangkok

CRITERIA Pictogram designating M1 level of access Pictogram of vision criteria

Visitors to the National Museum Bangkok are able to learn about Thailand through Touching Thailand Tours. During these Tours, visitors are able to touch specially selected Buddha statues, architectural items, ceramics and other pieces while they learn about Thai art, history and culture.  Specially trained volunteer guides lead English speaking visitors through half day touch tours.  The Tours are in workshop format and are held in a private room. They may also include a walk through the grounds of the National Museum Bangkok.  Those with sight wear eyeshades so they no longer rely on their eyes. In this way, they are able to learn more deeply through all their senses and can reconsider their fears and prejudices as they begin to appreciate a world without sight.  Tours are only available on request and must be booked at least two weeks in advance. They are available for not more than 6 people at one time and are conducted in the morning – there are 2 sessions with a short break in between.
