The Scandic Karlskrona hotel opened on 15 March 2010. The hotel is located by the waterside on Karlskrona's largest island Trossö.  As you approach Karlskrona, an optical illusion makes it appear to be floating on water - which in a sense it is. In 1998 the entire town was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list due to its well-preserved 17th- and 18th-century naval architecture.  The hotel has 180 rooms 18 of which are accessible to tourists with mobility aids.  If required, the hotel has special hypoallergenic rooms.
